New Delhi: Slamming the Gujarat government for action against two IPS officers, the Congress party has accused Chief Minister Narendra Modi of hatching conspiracy to suppress those seeking to uncover and expose the truth behind the Gujarat carnage of 2002.

The state government has served show cause notice to IPS officer Rahul Sharma, who had given CDs containing phone call records to various agencies including Special Investigation Team (SIT).

On Tuesday, the state government suspended IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt who has come out in open against the Gujarat CM stating that he advised the police to let the Hindus eke out their anger on Feb 27, 2002.

The action of the state government has come under severe criticism from all quarters including the Congress.

Congress national spokesman and Ludhiana MP Manish Tiwari said “Truth has been the real victim for the last nine years in Gujarat.”

The Congress has demanded transfer of hearings of all riots related cases outside Gujarat for ensuring justice to the victims.
