In the Railway Budget presented by Sadananda Gowda on Tuesday, it was decided that railways will be used extensively to ferry goods off to far-fetched places.

With the help of cooperative and government undertakings, special arrangements have been made to transport essential stuffs like fruits, vegetables, milk, salt etc to far flung areas.

In order to transport these food-stuffs, air-conditioned wagons and milk-containers will be put into service. In fact, to increase the supply of salt, a special rust-free wagon will run on tracks.

While presenting the Budget, the Railway Minister emphasized on the fact that special focus will be laid on the ways to control price rise.

The above mentioned measures will not only help farmers get maximum price of their produce, it would also be effective in controlling price rise on account of increased and improved supply.

The government also stressed on the fact that in order to ensure proper supply of all necessary commodities, an easy rail link should be established between the producing states and consuming states.

Based on the agreement between Central Warehouse Corporation, an undertaking of the Food Ministry and Railways, rail side storehouse will also be built.

In order to improve supplies of fruits and vegetables, 10 rail side cold storages will be constructed many cities including Vatva, Vishakhapatanam, Badagara, Cheriyanad, Bhiwandi Road, Ajra, Navalur, Kalamboli and Sanand.

During his speech, Sadananda Gowda also said that along with assistance from cooperative milk marketing federation Amul and National Dairy Development Board, special trains laden with tankers to carry milk, will be operated. This will ensure faster transportation of milk and its supply will also increase.

Several other factors responsible for price rise along with ways to tackle them were also discussed during the railway budget.
