Idukki (Ker): CPI-M leader M M Mani, who is facing criminal charges over his controversial speech in which he stated that the party had eliminated political foes in the past, on Sunday said Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi had no moral right to criticise him for what he had said.

"Modi has no moral right to criticise me since he is responsible for the death of thousands of people including women and children in his state," he said.

Mani was replying to queries from reporters here after a district committee meeting.

Modi had last week come down heavily on CPI-M citing Mani's speech at a public meeting organised by the party.
