He arrived Udhampur in a private jet and then took a chopper to reach Katra, the base camp of the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine. After paying obeisance at the shrine, Modi left for Hira Nagar town of Kathua district where he is addressing a public rally.

The saffron party has fielded two candidates from Jammu region, Jugal Kishore from Jammu and Jitender Singh from Udhampur constituency. The Congress-National Conference alliance has fielded Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad from Udhampur and sitting MP Madan Lal Sharma from the Jammu constituency.

Later in the day, Modi will address rallies in Delhi, Bijnor and Bulandshahr.

On Tuesday, the party had announced that Modi would address a total of over 185 such rallies in 295 constituencies commencing from Wednesday.

On March 27, he will take on Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar in her home turf Sasaram from where the BJP has fielded Chhedi Paswan. He will also address rallies in neighbouring Aurangabad and Gaya on the same day. He will then visit Lohardaga and Chatra in Jharkhand to hold public meetings.

The BJP has fielded its prime ministerial candidate from Varanasi and Vadodara Lok Sabha seat.
