He added that the neighboring Himalayan kingdom is a valued friend of India.

Modi said the new government is committed to bettering country’s relations with Nepal in several spheres.

“I thank President of Nepal Shri Ram Baran Yadav, Prime Minister Shri Sushil Koirala & former PM Shri Baburam Bhattarai for their wishes,” Modi tweeted on Sunday.

“Nepal is an old & deeply valued friend. We are committed to strengthening our relations with Nepal in various spheres,” he added.

Modi also revealed that he had a telephonic conversation with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and thanked him for his wishes.

The Prime Minister to-be said the duo talked about their commitment to strengthen relations between the two sides.

“Had a telephonic conversation with @pmharper. Thanked him for his wishes & talked about our commitment to strengthen India-Canada relations,” Modi said.

Modi led the Bharatiya Janata Party to an incredible win in the Lok Sabha elections with his party alone bagging 283 seats while the NDA claiming 336 out of 543 seats.
