Modi in his first reaction told the nation that good days are coming ahead.

“India has won! भारत की विजय। अच्छे दिन आने वाले हैं।,” he said on microblogging site Twitter.

Modi, who is likely to be sworn-in as the country’s next Prime Minister on May 21, went to seek the blessing of his mother Hiraba Modi, who believes her son will lead the country on the developmental path.

"He has my blessings and he will lead the country towards development," Hariba said when asked to comment on the counting trends.

After meeting his mother, Modi greeted all his followers and well-wishers with folded hands.

While the BJP-led NDA looks set for clear majority, Modi is leading in both Varanasi and Vadodara constituencies respectively.

The BJP was on Friday set for a comfortable majority in the Lok Sabha with its candidates taking early leads in 265 of the 498 seats in two hours of vote count across the country.

The Congress, India's oldest political party which had ruled India for a decade since 2004 at the head of the UPA, appeared set for an unprecedented rout.
