Addressing a rally in Ghaziabad, Modi said seeking votes on basis of religion is against the laws of this nation.

“I urge the EC to take sou motto action against the Congress president,” he added.

Modi said the Congress is making every attempt to communalise the Lok Sabha polls.

"For Congress, secularism is religion first. For us, secularism is India first. Congress secularism is divide and rule whereas we say unite, integrate and work for the betterment of nation,” Modi said.

“The Congress is making every effort to communalism the polls. Congress’ game of secularism is now over. People have understood them. Soniaji has made the mistake of trying to mislead and divide the nation,” he added.

The Congress president’s meeting with Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid Syed Ahmed Bukhari has stroked a fresh controversy.  Sonia, who met the Shahi Imam at her 10 Janpath residence for around 45 minutes on Wednesday, later rejected the Opposition’s charge that she was polarising the elections.

Modi also lashed out at the Congress over the plight of farmers’ plight and making ‘false’ promises in its manifesto.
