“They (Congress) said they will check price rise in 100 days, but has it gone? Congress is a fraud party and has looted the nation”, said Modi while addressing a rally in Palampur.

Seeking support from the people of Palampur, the BJP’s poster boy asked them to repose faith in him and his party, saying, “I will give your dreams back to you.”

“You don’t need to be disappointed, this country is strong… The country doesn’t need ruler but a social servant,” he said.

Playing his development plank, Modi said, “Earthquake had devastated Gujarat, but with the help of education from Himachal I changed the face of Gujarat. Today, Gujarat is touching new heights.”

After Palampur, Modi is scheduled to address poll meetings in Mandi and Solan. The Gujarat Chief Minister had addressed a rally at Sujanpur in Hamirpur Lok Sabha constituency on February 16.

In the last leg of election campaigning, national leaders of different political factions are heading towards the hill state to leave no stone unturned for benefiting their party candidates.

Himachal Pradesh has four parliamentary constituencies of Hamirpur, Mandi, Kangra and Shimla where a direct contest between Congress and BJP is on the cards though there are other parties also in the fray.

From the Congress side, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh is spearheading the campaign singlehandedly. As far as the BJP is concerned, leader of Opposition Prem Kumar Dhumal is heading the campaign.

BJP’s star campaigners for Himachal Pradesh include Narendra Modi, L K Advani, Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley, Murli Manohar Joshi, Venkaiah Naidu and Nitin Gadkari.
