Officials of Gujarat police led by a DIG-level officer, police commandos and district police officials carried out an extensive security drill and sanitization of the BJP  leader’s public meeting venue at Dulapur in Gauriganj.

State police sources said that two companies of Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) personnel and 100 state police jawans have been pressed into service to ensure watertight security for Modi.

They added that station officers besides 25 sub-inspectors will be deployed at the venue.

Superintendent of Police Heera Lal also confirmed that additional forces have been called in to secure the venue.

By addressing rally here, Modi will break the perception of top political leaders that he refrains from campaigning in constituencies represented by his main opponents.

"I am going to Amethi due to the love and affection of the party workers in the constituency. Some big leaders are going to lose in the election this time," Modi had said on Sunday while addressing a 3D rally.

Amid apprehensions that Modi’s campaign can affect poll prospect of Rahul Gandhi in Amethi, Union External Affairs Ministe Salman Khurshid on Sunday said the BJP's prime ministerial nominee will have no impact in the constituency of the Congress vice-president.

"Modi's campaign in Amethi would have absolutely no impact," Khurshid said.
Earlier on Sunday, Rahul along with sister Priyanka Gandhi held a road show in Amethi.

The BJP has fielded actor-turned-politician Smriti Irani from here whereas Aam Aadmi party (AAP) has given ticket to Kumar Vishwas.

Voting in Amethi will take place on May 7.
