Speaking at an election rally in Ambedkar Nagar district, Modi promised to end criminalization of politics.

“Will the politics of bombs and guns work in our nation? Would innocents keep losing their lives? Would criminals keep reaching the Parliament?” Modi said.

“We have to clean the Parliament of criminals. It is a priority,” he added.

Taking a jibe at Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Modi said asking for something from god-like public is not wrong. He added the BJP definitely asks from the masses but never loots them.

“Public is like god and it is not a wrong thing to ask something from them, Soniaji. However, we do beg in front of the public but we never loot them,” he said.

Modi also took potshots at the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Samajwadi Party (SP), saying the two parties does not do anything for the welfare of the common people.

He urged the voters of the state to bid farewell to them now.

“In UP, the government is always made by either Behenji (Mayawati) or father-son duo (Akhilesh and Mulayam Singh). Now bid farewell to them,” he said.

Invoking Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s name during his speech, Modi said “If Sardar Patel had been our PM then things would be different. This family did not do justice with him. I have come from Patel's state.”
