Interacting with the media as part of an election-related meet organised by the Press Club in Thiruvananthapuram, Antony said, "I doubt if any true patriot of our country would make such a reference because this will demoralise the armed forces. It was an inappropriate comment from a PM candidate.”

“I am not personally pained by his remarks and am not one who will react in the same manner attacking individuals. But he attacking our weapons will indirectly benefit the enemy. Let the people of India judge," he added while reacting to Modi's "three AKs" statement wherein he termed him and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal as "Pakistan's agents".

Speaking at election rallies at Hira Nagar (Jammu and Kashmir), Bulandshahar (Uttar Pradesh) and Seelampur (Delhi) on March 26, Modi mentioned AK 47, AK Antony and AK 49 (referring to Kejriwal's 49-day stint as the chief minister of Delhi).
