Morinda (Punjab): Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Friday said the victory of Narendra Modi for the third consecutive term in Gujarat was a "vote for development" and the people of that state have "followed" the Punjab example in this regard.

Talking to reporters after inaugurating Rs 15 crore Railway Over Bridge (ROB) and newly built Rs 42 lakh Sub-Tehsil complex in Morinda, Badal said that, "Gujarat election marks the beginning of decimation of Congress from political scene of India".

He decried Congress Party for launching a negative campaign against incumbent parties in Punjab and Gujarat and advised them to play the constructive role of the opposition rather than pin pricking the governments on non-issues.

Answering a query regarding support of Narendra Modi for prime ministership, Badal said that this issue would be decided by the NDA collectively.
