New Delhi: Excitement is at its peak for the World Cup semi-final match between India and Pakistan at Mohali. Tight security measures have been planned ahead of the high voltage clash between the two countries.

Taking in view that the Prime Ministers of both the nations will be present during the match, strict security arrangements have been placed. The entire area will be cordoned off to meet any untoward incident.

The National Security Guard (NSG) will be deployed at the Punjab Cricket Association stadium in Mohali.

A senior official in the Home Ministry said during the WC semi-final, Mohali will be a no-fly zone. The movement of flights will be restricted during the match.

The official further said that the security cover won’t be like Commonwealth Games held last year but every corner of the stadium will be under surveillance.

Local police and Central security forces will also keep a strict vigil on and around the stadium.

Observing Mohali’s proximity to Pakistan’s border, special precautionary measures will be taken, and intelligence agencies will keep a strict vigil on people coming from Pakistan to see the match.

Till now, 120 Pakistanis have been issued visas out which more than 80 are issued to officials from Pakistan Cricket Board.

But, the Home Ministry doesn’t want to take any chance as it suspects that Pakistani cricket fans will buy tickets in black and come for the match.

If a Pakistani is granted Indian visa, next time the national can get visa for two years without any security check and Pakistan-based terrorists can take advantage of it.

In 2007, terrorists Sajid Mir and Abdul Rehman came to India in the name of Indo-Pak match and conducted a recce at prime places. Not only this, Pak nationals come to India and do not return back.
