Kolkata: Mohun Bagan coach Steve Derby on Saturday resigned in protest against setting up of a technical committee by the club management to look after football affairs.

Stating that this was unacceptable, Derby said in his resignation letter, “This has created a lot of mental pressure on me which I can’t accept.”

Club Secretary Anjan Mitra said Derby’s resignation would be discussed.

Derby was appointed coach four months ago replacing Subhas Bhowmick.

Derby met players and bade them goodbye.
