New Delhi: North and Central India received first showers of Monsoon rains on Thursday bringing much relief to the people of the region, who are facing the scorching heat along with power and water crisis. Farmers danced in joy and greeted rain gods. People were expecting that Delhi would also receive Monsoon showers after it lashed Himachal, UP, MP Jammu and Kashmir and Uttarakhand.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department sources, there are favorable situation for the advancement of Monsoon and it is expected to become active in Northern India soon.
In a welcome relief, rains drenched hilly areas of the country on Thursday which helped to bring some relief to the area. Some areas of Himachal received rains of more than 100 mm while many places of Jammu and Kashmir also received Monsoon showers. Surprisingly rains also dashed in many parts of parched Rajasthan.

Monsoon advanced to Uttar Pradesh after a brief lull in Purvanchal. On the other hand, Delhiites had to sweat it out despite clouds covering the sky hovering the region. However, temperature can slide down by 4 degrees Celsius here till Friday.
