Chandigarh: The maximum temperature at most places in Punjab and Haryana on Wednesday hovered couple of notches below the normal level as rains continued to lash the region.

Chandigarh received 9.4 mm rainfall and recorded a high of 33 degrees Celsius, MeT officials said here.

Ambala in Haryana received 51 mm showers and recorded a high of 33 deg C. Bhiwani recorded maximum 31.4 deg C, down two degrees, after being lashed by 9.8 mm rain.

Hisar's settled at a high of 33 deg C, three notches below normal, while Karnal recorded 31 deg C.

In Punjab, Ludhiana recorded a high of 33.9 deg C. The city received 7 mm rainfall.

Patiala recorded a high of 32.6 deg C, down one notch, while Amritsar's maximum was 35.4 deg C.
