Ranchi: Unable to make arrangement for lands in order to install power plants, MoUs of around 28 companies are likely to get cancelled. These companies had inked deal with the government for production of 37, 600 MW power.

The government had also made arrangements for the coal blocks/coal linkage and water for most of the companies but they were unable to arrange land for the power plants.

Even though the deadline to install power plants was over years back, the companies did not pay heed to extension of the MoU. In this view, the government has decided to end the coal block/coal linkage and water supply to these companies.

However, before terminating the MoU, the government has asked for a clarification from these companies till November 15.

Around 33 companies had expressed their willingness to establish power plants and had signed a MoU with the state government in this regard.

Out of these companies, Jindal, Tata Steel, etc had also signed a MoU to install steel plants in the state.

The companies which have signed the memorandum to establish power plants include Aditya Birla company, Core Steel and Power Ltd, Emami Paper Mills Ltd, GMR Energy Ltd, Gagan Sponge Iron Ltd, Gupta Energy Ltd, GVK Power Ltd, JSW Energy Ltd, Reliance Energy, etc.

Meanwhile, the state has also halted the willingness of six new players who wished to establish new plants.
