Film: Finding Fanny

Director: Homi Adajania

Cast: Naseeruddin Shah, Pankaj Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia, Deepika Padukone and Arjun Kapoor

Storyline: The plot of Finding Fanny revolves around five characters Deepika Padukone (Angie) as Ranveer Singh's (Garbo) widow, Deepika's mother-in-law Dimple Kapadia (Rosie Eucharistica), Naseeruddin Shah (Ferdi), Arjun Kapoor (Savio) and Pankaj Kapoor (Don Pedro). They stay in a village called Pocolim in Goa where life is slow and monotonous. One night, the old postman Ferdie receives a letter that is slipped under his door and he realizes that it is the letter he had written 46-years-ago to the love of his life Stefanie Fernandes (Anjali Patil) asking her to marry him. This is the time when a young widow Angie decides to help Fredie to find his long lost love. With them join the other 3 colourful characters from the village. It actually is not the destination that matters here but it's the journey of these five characters completely different from each other but with clean hearts. In the course of Fredie’s search for love, another old man Don Pedro develops love or rather lust for Rosie, while Angie and Savio continue their romance on the other side.

Review: While typical Bollywood 'masala' films are trying to chase the 100 crore club, this off-beat movie Finding Fanny makes an attempt to highlight human emotions in a much more realistic and philosophical manner. While Deepika looks stunning, Pankaj Kapur, Naseerudin Shah and Dimple Kapadia are an absolute treat to watch. What is more interesting is that young Arjun Kapoor has managed to stand strong with the big guns and displays his best talent and put up an amazing show.

After directing a hit commercial film Cocktail, Homi Adajania has proven that he is an extremely talented filmmaker. Although some of the jokes and sharp dialogues were lost in translation and that’s a tragedy, but don’t stop yourself from watching Finding Fanny. You will surely feel like a breath of fresh air.
