Jagran Rating: Good

Story Line: Jolly LLB is a serious film with plenty of comic, witty and satirical dialogues and situations that seems ‘straight out of life’. It is one of the most realistic films depicting the courtroom session. This movie is about the struggle of a small-time advocate from Meerut to succeed in a dog-eat-dog, truth-be-damned law world.

Frustrated with his small town, Jagdish Tyagi aka Jolly (Arshad Warsi) decides to move to New Delhi to try his luck. Soon he settles down to the chaos and politics of the district sessions court and the mundaneness of his practice.

But he is waiting for his big chance, which will make him rich and famous. He seeks this chance with a much-in-the-news drink-and-drive case: a drunk, rich brat runs over a group of people sleeping on the pavement and kills them. His industrialist family has hired super-famous celeb advocate Rajpal (Boman Irani) to get him off scot-free and he does too.

Except Jolly files a Public Interest Litigation case and gets the case reopened. What follows is a moral roller coaster ride for Jolly. His principles are anyway a bit skewed but as Jolly enters deeper into the technicalities of his case, he realises that there are wheels within wheels and that he has to soon take sides.

Thumbs Up: In this satirical courtroom drama, Boman Irani and Arshad Warsi have left no stones unturned by their brilliant performance. 'Appeal' spelled as 'apple' and Jolly telling Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists that he's Maskhar-e-Taiba is all presented in a very comic fashion. The courtroom scenes between Jolly (Arshad Warsi) and Rajpal (Boman Irani) and shots between Rajpal and judge Tripathi (Saurabh Shukla) makes you burst out with laughter.

Extending not more than 2 hours and 10 minutes, Jolly LLB gives a very clear picture of the 'real courtroom' in the country and this is perhaps the first time that any filmmaker has presented the courtroom as it is.

Thumbs Down: The songs are forgettable, utterly tacky and totally superfluous to the narrative. Except the song and it’s lyrics we were unable to find any flaws in this movie.

Jolly LLB is a film of myriad virtues. Book your ticket for entertaining and quirky courtroom drama this weekend. A must watch for all
