Film: Mardaani

Director: Pradeep Sarkar

Cast: Rani Mukherjee, Tahir Bhasin, Jisshu Sengupta

Storyline: Rani Mukerji played a role of a clever and fast journalist in No One Killed Jessica, and now she is back with more aggression and tough attitude. Rani plays character of Shivani Shivaji Roy who is a senior inspector crime branch, in Mumbai. She lives with her husband Dr. Bikram Roy (Jisshu Sengupta) and her niece Meera.

She is very close to a girl Pyari, who is later kidnapped by a trafficking mafia and is smuggled outside the city. Shivani then gets a call from a trafficking mafia kingpin and asks her what she wants. He says that he won’t free Pyari because she has seen a lot. She challenges the kingpin and challenges him that she will catch him within 30 days. And this is where the real struggle of Shivani begins. Her mission now is not only finding Pyari but rescuing all the other innocent children. The movie is all about the hide and seeks of this man and the diehard efforts of Rani to catch him dead or alive. You will have to see the film to know whether the fierce lady cop use both her brains and guts to pull the victim out of the dungeons of sex trafficking?

Review: Rani has always been the 'Queen of Hearts' and has had much success in Bollywood. In Mardaani, she creates a storm by playing a female cop tackling the menace of human trafficking. She has done absolute justice to her role. The script of the movie seems to be straight and seems very much realistic in an Indian society. Topic of the film is very bold and sensitive which is why the film has got ‘A’ certificate from the censor board. Some brilliant dialogues in the flick has made it more real and apt. ‘Aur kisi ko law sikhna hai?’ (Anyone else wants to learn law?), is one of them.

Tahir Bhasin as a merciless ace criminal, Walt, has been incredible. He is playing the role of a pimp running an organised racket to the T. Jisshu Sengupta as Rani’s husband has also done a good job. Music is given by Shantanu Moitra however, it’s the background score by Karthik Raja leaves more impact. If you are a Rani Mukerji’s fan, then you cannot miss out this one.
