Bhopal: To review the progress of various development projects running in the state, a meeting of 52,000 Gram Sabhas will be conducted on the occasion of Independence Day.  On the day, the officials of the state administration will also evaluate the growth of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA).

Directives of the meeting have been sent to District Magistrates and Chief Executives of District Panchayats. Panchayats have been asked to inform the villagers and also to prepare agendas after taking view of natives.

Following the flag hoisting ceremony on August 15, the members of the Panchayat will be apprised about the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Guarantee Act, which was implemented in the year 2010.

It is expected that thrust will be laid on the activities under Narmada Samagra which includes Narmada River's environmental, water, heritage and sustainable development interests. Besides, Hiryali Chunari project, government's initiative towards restoration of forest and biodiversity alongside the river Narmada will also be a topic of discussion.

The meeting agendas will include complete sanitation in villages, eradication of malnutrition, Mid Day Meal and availability of pure drinking water. Recommendation for social security, national old age pension scheme and other will also be given in the meeting.
