Bhopal: Congress in Madhya Pradesh on Saturday demanded a CBI probe into the allotment of a prime piece of land here to a private infrastructure firm allegedly at throwaway price by the State's BJP Government.

Addressing mediapersons in Bhopal, Leader of Opposition Ajay Singh of Congress termed the allotment as "illegal" and demanded termination of the land deal with the company.

He claimed the land allotment would cause a revenue loss of Rs 5,000 crore to the state exchequer and demanded action those involved in the exercise besides a CBI inquiry.

"The responsibility of those involved in the allotment should be fixed and action should be taken against them," the Congress MLA said.

The Opposition leader said the tender for plot allotment was approved by the State Cabinet and claimed it was first such instance in Madhya Pradesh history. The issue was raised by the Opposition in the just- concluded winter session of the Assembly, where Housing Minister Narottam Mishra had denied all allegations related to the allotment.
