Bhopal: In a major decision, the Madhya Pradesh Government on Tuesday approved seven percent hike in the dearness allowance (DA) of its employees.
The decision to pay additional DA and other allowances as recommended by the Agrawal Pay Commission was approved by the state Cabinet at its meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, official sources said.
With this decision, the employees and the pensioners will get 65 percent DA with effect from August 1, 2012, they said.
The seven percent rise in DA will put an annual additional burden of Rs 1056.72 crore on the state exchequer while this year it would be around Rs 616.42 crore.
The state cabinet also approved other allowances like HRA, transport allowance, daily allowance, meal allowance, travelling allowance and hotel allowance, the sources added.
