Bhopal: After much hue and cry over land acquisition across the country, the Madhya Pradesh government has decided not to acquire agricultural land for setting up industry. Moreover, the prospective investors in the state would have to purchase land directly from the farmers for industrial purposes.

The decision was taken in a meeting of Investment Promotion Committee chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan.

The Chief Minister also issued directives to a committee headed by the state Finance Minister to hold regular meetings related to infrastructure projects such as Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor project.

Addressing senior officials of various departments, Chauhan directed the secretaries of different department to follow the decisions within the fixed time frame.

During the meeting, discussions were held related to Sitashri Food Products, Indore, Jai Prakash Power Venture, Singrauli, Beena Power Supply Company, Sagar and JK Tyre, Moraina.
