Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta police seized unaccounted property estimated to worth Rs 8 crore from a Superintendent Engineer (SE) of Eastern Region Electricity Distribution Company. The officer posted in Chhindwara has accumulated huge property in many cities including Bhopal, Jabalpur and Jhansi.

A complain of possessing disproportionate assets worth crore of Rupees was registered against the SE, KL Verma, at the Lokayukta headquarter in Bhopal. The complaint was later forwarded to Jabalpur office and subsequently a case was registered in this regard. 

On Wednesday morning, simultaneous raids were conducted at the various places in Chhindwara, Bhopal and Chhatarpur during which unaccounted property worth crores of Rupees was unearthed which includes farms houses, plots, buildings, flats and a poultry farm. A team has been dispatched to Jhansi in this regard.

Besides, the SE also holds accounts in 16 banks and the respective banks have been asked to provide detailed information about the accounts. At least 308 gram gold and 500 grams of silver and Rs 21000 cash have also been recovered. Verma has FDR of Rs 18 lakhs. He has invested Rs 13 lakh in various insurance policies. 

Moreover, AC, revolver, two cars and one scooter amounting to Rs 12 lakh have also been recovered from his possession.
