Katni: The protestors sitting on 'Chita Satyagraha' in some villages here against land acquisition have said they would not give up their land, like the way their counterparts did in Singur, West Bengal.
"As Mamata (Banerjee) forced Nano to leave Singur, we will also not allow the power plant to come up on our fertile land," the protestors staging 'Chita Satyagraha' (by sitting over unlit funeral pyre) at Dokaria and Bujbuja villages of Katni district in Madhya Pradesh.
Welspun Energy Madhya Pradesh Limited is setting up a thermal power plant in Barhi tehsil's Bujbuja and Dokaria villages.
Protestors carried placards stating "Shivraj Singh Chouhan hosh mein aao, Dokaria aur Bujbuja ko Bengal ka Singur mat banao" (don't try to make Bujbuja Dokaria like Singur).
Shantibai, who owns 3.5 acre land, said, "I will die but not give up my land at any cost for the power plant."
Another woman, Mirtibai protesting against the land acquisition, said, "I will prefer to die on these pyres but not give up the land at any cost."
However, a number of persons in these villages have also been protesting against those opposing setting up of power plant in the district while terming those staging protests as "agents of outsiders."
