Bhopal: Aimed at implementing the Public Services Guarantee Act in the state in letter and spirit, the Madhya Pradesh government fined 14 sub-engineers of the Public Health Engineering Department of Gwalior for delay in providing services to the applicants on time.

In total, the amount of fine imposed upon the erring officials computed to Rs 99,500.

During his review meeting in Gwalior, state Public Services Management Minister Brijendra Pratap Singh took stock of the situation and asked the Collector to investigate and take a strict action against the officials.

“Taking the Public Services Guarantee Act in a light manner can cost dear to government officials,” said Singh.

He maintained that no official would be spared irrespective of his/her hierarchy and position.

In his direction to all the District Collectors, Singh said the departments should come prepared for the review meetings.

“Departmental officials should make sure that any kind of lethargy noticed in implementation of the Act can make situation difficult for them,” Singh said.

Singh has also ordered probe in matters pertaining to other departments in Katni region.
