Bhopal: Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi’s effort to rejig the Youth Congress and the party youth wing NSUI is also aimed at bettering the intra-party system in the party.

But his nationwide exercise proved in vain as rival groups clashed with each other during the meeting of the newly formed team of the Madhya Pradesh Youth Congress on Monday.

Police was called to separate the warring factions during the first meeting of the newly formed team.

During the meeting, the newly elected president of Youth Congress Priyavart Singh had to take charge before holding a formal meeting with other office bearers.

Congress workers from across the state had assembled for the meeting. In the meanwhile, Bhopal Lok Sabha constituency president Manoj Shukla and vice-president Praveen Saxena had a scuffle which led to clashes between the supporters of both the leaders.

Two party workers sustained head injuries in the milieu.
