As per a source, this facility will not be free of cost. Only line-bonding modem MNTL customers can reap the benefits of this scheme by paying an additional charge of charge Rs 50 to 100. The speed of Wi-Fi will likely touch 8 Mbps, said a source.

This move by the MTNL is speculated to expand its user base among youth and benefit frequent travelers.

According to reports, a customer will have to register himself at such places, and can have access to internet by just using his unique login id and password.

The reports further claim that there are certain authentication processes required before launching the service and as soon it gets complete, the service will be launched. MTNL has partnered with C-bot to provide this Wi-Fi service.

MTNL, which currently has six lakh broadband customers, will add another two lakh to its customer base once this service is launched.
