Cairo: Former Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak is getting a monthly allowance of 339 USD from the state, a daily reported on Tuesday. However, Mubarak's pension as the former commander of the armed forces could not be disclosed, a daily said, citing an unnamed state official.

Mubarak has kept out of the public eye since the uprisings forced him to step down in February and hand power over to a military council.

Military authorities have forbidden Mubarak and his family to leave the country. The former president is living in a villa in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh.
