Kolkata: Trinamool Congress general secretary Mukul Roy on Monday claimed that the Mamata Banerjee government in West Bengal has taken a number of positive steps for development of the state.

"Mamata Banerjee is trying to give good governance in the state. In the last ten months the new government has taken several initiatives for the development of the state," Roy, also the Railway Minister said.

Announcing the joining of 11 CPI(M) and Congress workers from Chapra in North Dinajpur in the Trinamool Congress fold, he said, "Not just Congress, but CPI(M) also should understand that people are disgruntled with them and are joining the party after endorsing the development activities taken up by the new government."

He, however, did not answer a question on whether the joining of local leaders and workers of Congress would have any effect on its blow hot blow cold relationship with ally Congress.
