Ranchi: In what could be treated as a major breakthrough in the July 13 Mumbai blasts case, the police have managed to get information about a terrorist named Manjar Imam for his alleged involvement in the case.

A team of Gujarat police crime branch, who are presently in Ranchi, interrogating the family and relatives of Indian Mujahideen activist Manjar Imam came to know that the blast accused is also known as Abu Hanifa within the banned outfit.

It is believed that terrorists usually, in order to conceal their identification, adopt another name.

The Gujarat crime branch, on Monday, for the second consecutive day continued its search for Manjar alias Manjar Imam alias Jamil alias Abu Hanifa, who is also believed to be involved in the Surat bomb blast case.

After the confession of Danish, who was arrested by the Gujarat cops, the latter issued a warrant against Manjar. The police is tracking all the activities of his relatives and friends’ mobile.

The Gujarat crime branch police also met CID officials in Ranchi.

Sources said the Gujarat crime branch looked miffed over the fact that till date the Ranchi police has failed to collect information about Manjar.

However, the team of NIA who were in Ranchi in connection with this case are of the view that even after having information about Manjar, they have failed to establish his terrorist links.
