Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) along with Tamil Nadu police detained the 2002 Mumbai Ghatkopar blast accused, Taufeek alias Abdullah alias Akbar, at Morna bus stand in Noida on Tuesday.

According to reports, the ATS sleuths received the information about Taufeek entry into Indian boundaries through Bangladesh. 

Giving information about the arrest, the Additional DIG, Subesh Kumar, said, “Taufeek was here to execute terrorist activities in Delhi and NCR.”

In a police interrogation it was revealed that Taufeek was hiding in Saudi Arab from last one and a half year and was expelled from the country after the visa tenure was over.

Taufeek, a resident of Thanjavur district in Tamil Nadu, has been absconding since 2001. He has also been slapped with the charges under Prevention of Terrorist Act (POTA).
