Mumbai: Air Intelligence unit of Customs intercepted a person holding USA passport and seized two wrist watches, US currency and dutiable goods valued at Rs 20.79 lakhs from him at international airport here on Tuesday.

Shabbar Amirali Kassam was detained by Customs on his arrival from London by flight BA-139 after he had cleared himself through the green channel.

Detailed examination of his baggage revealed the dutiable goods which had not been declared by him, PM Saleem, Commissioner of Customs, said in a release here on Thursday.

The goods were confiscated under the provisions of Customs Act, 1962, read with FEMA 2000 and rules and regulations made there under.

In his statement recorded under section 108 of the Customs Act, Shabbar interalia admitted the possession, carriage, non-declaration, knowledge and recovery of the seized goods. Further investigations are in progress, the release said.
