Ranchi: In response to Union Home Minister P Chidambaram’s letter highlighting the ineffective anti-Naxal operations in Jharkhand, Chief Minister Arjun Munda has said that the Naxal problem is not restricted to any state and the government is handling the menace in all possible ways.

Munda said, “The letter issued by the Home Ministry was with an intention of maligning the image of the state government. Playing politics over such a major issue is wrong.”

Talking to the mediaMunda said, “Before questioning Jharkhand’s role in curbing the menace, the Centre should first evaluate that who is responsible for the condition. Who has ignored the marginalized groups?”

A miffed Munda said that only a collective attempt made by the Centre and the state government will resolve the issue.

In a letter to Chief Minister Arjun Munda, Chidambaram said that Jharkhand has become the most Naxal violence affected state in 2011 and the situation there is a “major cause for concern”. He had asked Munda to galvanise the state police leadership to take more pro-active steps.
