Mumbai: There is a growing rift between the ruling coalition partners Congress and NCP in Maharashtra, senior BJP leader Gopinath Munde said on Saturday. (Agencies)
He was addressing the inaugural function of a two-day training workshop for BJP legislators at Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini at Uttan in adjoining Thane district.
“Congress does not have the face and things are not well within NCP. Earlier, there were those who believed in Sharad Pawar's inclusive approach, the image of RR Patil, and there was a section of society which supported Chhagan Bhujbal.”
However, after Ajit Pawar became the deputy Chief Minister, this has changed. It has been seen earlier too that people do not like arrogant politicians," Munde said.
"Our legislators should take advantage of this situation," the senior BJP leader said.
The credibility of the UPA government is diminishing day by day due to new cases of corruption coming to light, Munde said.
Even the allies are not with UPA, he added. "The Mr Clean image of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh helped Congress in the last elections but even he is now in the middle of a controversy," Munde said.
BJP president Nitin Gadkari is expected to deliver the valedictory address at the workshop on Sunday.
