Jaunpur:  Coming down heavily upon Centre’s decision of introducing minority reservation within the OBC quota, BJP leader Uma Bharati on Tuesday accused the UPA government of trying to play divide and rule politics.

“Reservation on the basis of caste or religion is not going to benefit anyone. Instead it will facilitate another partition of the country,” Bharti asserted.

If the government wants to introduce reservation on the basis of religion, it should first declare India as a Hindu country, she added.

Claiming the BJP being well-wisher of Muslims, Bharti said, “The development and progress of Muslims in the BJP ruled states clearly signify that we are not anti-Muslims. We are of the opinion that reservation should be on the basis of requirement rather than religion.”

When asked about the delay in announcing the candidates name for Uttar Pradesh assembly polls, she said, “We are cadre based party. Every activist working for the betterment of the party is eligible for contending elections. We will soon announce their names.”

Elaborating about the preparedness for upcoming elections, Bharti said, “We want to change the face of India. Corruption and defunct law and order situation in the state will be our top most agenda during the polls.”
