The event was inaugurated by Maheish Girri, Manager of Nav Bharat Sewa Samiti & International Director of Art of Living, in the presence of chief guest Madhu Mudra, who is the chairperson of Maheshwari Mahila Sangathan  of IP Extention Zone.

While inaugurating the programme, Maheish Girri said, “The NGO has always made and has been proactive and takes the society together, either it be male, female or the minorities. This time we have on women who I think is the most important section of our society. They have been growing and empowering the society at all levels and explored almost all areas. Today they are at par with males”.

The event showcased many recreational programme like baby and ethnicwear fashion show, cultural programs, Mehandi and dance competition etc. Besides the cultural programmes, women safety tips were also given for the safeguard of feminine gender in an emergency situation.

Women Achiever Award was given by Maheish Girri and BJP leader Dr. Harsh Vardhan for significant and tangible development in their respective fields.

A jury team of 100 members selected 18 women who have done significantly good work in their respective fields.

The main aim of this programme was to motivate women, commemorate their success and to give an inspiration to other women who have worked hard to make their life smooth. This event was able to pull up a good crowd with its 118 stalls which were set up by women artisans to showcase their wares. Among these stalls, 20 were given by the slum women who were trained and financially supported by Nav Bharat Sewa Samiti.

“Our volunteers went to remote slum areas and tried to encourage the women to be self-sufficient. We tried to make them understand their capabilities,” said Narinder Mohan, one of the organisers and the State Teacher Co-ordinator of The Art of Living in East Zone,

“We are not only concerned for women belong to weak financial background, but also it is a platform for every woman, irrespective of their financial condition, to explore their talent,” he added.

The event, which was a hub of recreation, fun, exotic food and many more attractions like painting, clothing and jewellery shops, witnessed only women vendors selling their products.

Talking about women empowerment and their position in today’s society, Mohan said that women should value themselves first.

“There are several women in our society who have potential to do something good but they suppress their wish and talent due to family pressure. Before talking about empowerment, they should learn to value themselves and their wishes. We are here to give them a platform but they have to come forward to explore themselves,” he said.

Nav Bharat Sewa Samiti, which only takes care of East Delhi related projects, is hoping to spread its wings and do these kinds of noble works for a larger number of people.

Shri Maheish Girri said they have bigger projects and plans in their mind. “52 projects are in pipeline. We are always there to embrace our helping hands to people who need us,” he said.
