Jiah Khan

Jiah Khan made her Bollywood debut opposite Amitabh Bachchan in the highly controversial film 'Nishabd' at the age of 18. She later appeared in 'Ghajini' and 'Housefull' in supportive roles. Jiah was found dead at her Juhu residence in Mumbai on June 3, 2013. She had allegedly hanged herself. A six page suicide note was found days later by her sister. In the note, she mentioned that she had planned to end her life.

Divya Bharti

Divya Bharti's death shocked the Bollywood. The young and vivacious Divya Bharti died at the tender age of 19. It is still unclear whether she fell off the fifth floor of a building or she was pushed by someone. Bharti left an impact on the industry even in her brief career period with film like ‘Deewana’.

Parveen Babi

One of the most glamorous starlets of her time, Parveen Babi died a rather sad death on January 20, 2005 at her flat in Mumbai. Babi was rumoured to be schizophrenic which she vehemently denied. Babi lived lonely and nobody knows for certain whether she committed suicide or died a natural death as her body was found after the police searched the flat.

Like Babi, Parveen Madhubala won millions of hearts with her sizzling performance in movies like ‘Mughal-e-Azam’, ‘Howrah Bridge’ and ‘Mr and Mrs 55’. Just like Babi, Madhubala too lived a lonely life and unfortunately no one was on her side while she was dying. Her marble tomb was adorned with ‘aayats’ and 'verse' dedications from the Quran but even her final resting place was uprooted in 2010, to make way for new graves.

Meena Kumari

Known as tragedy queen, Meena Kumari died at the age of 40 without fully knowing how many audience loved her. Three weeks after the release of 'Pakeezah', Meena Kumari fell ill and died of  liver cirrhosis caused by alcohol addiction.

Guru Dutt

Guru Dutt was found dead due to an overdose of alcohol and sleeping pills. Whether it was an accident or suicide is still out for debate. While his family claimed that the incident was an accident, it is more or less established that Dutt committed suicide. It is believed that the differences between the actor and his wife Geeta led to the suicide.

Silk Smitha

Vijayalakshmi Vadlapati or Silk Smitha was one of the most well known erotic actresses in the film industry. She was a crowd puller. Her erotic magnetism was such that producers believed any movie would do well if it had Silk Smitha in it, irrespective of the script or the male lead. Things did not fall in place for her and apparently she committed suicide by poisoning herself in 1996. Failed romance, depression and dependency on alcohol probably were the reasons for her premature death.
