Even her campaigns are being associated with Modi and slogans like ‘Modi Kashi se, Uma Jhansi se’ can be heard resonating in the air.

The regional equation of Lalitpur-Jhansi seat is, however, looking in her favour and this is something worth cheering for the former Madhya Pradesh chief minister. That Modi hails from the Other Backward Class (OBC) is benefitting Uma and often in her speeches, she draws a parallel with Modi and says that Kashi can’t be complete without her.

Though the caste based equation is tilted in her favour, yet she is sweating it out in each and every village in order to seek votes from the people. Jhansi, which seems to be overwhelmed with Modi wave, has thrown its weight behind the saffron party leader.

Besides, she has also countered the growing discords within the party with ease. By making local MLA Ravi Sharma’s residence her center 0f campaigning and drawing strategies for a week, she overcame the first hurdle.

Former Jhansi MP Sujan Singh Bundela says that Babina, Lalitpur and Mehrauni areas have a sizeable population of Lodh-Rajput people and that’s why Uma is keen to contest from here.

On the other hand, Union Minister Pradeep Jain is finding it tough to defend his credibility before a strong Modi wave and anti-incumbency wave against the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government.

Besides, the people have also put him in dock over snail paced progress on developmental projects in Bundelkhand region.
