New Delhi: Even as the special court in Gujarat on Wednesday convicted 31 of 73 accused in the 2002 Sardarpura post-Godhra riot case in which 33 people of a minority community were burnt alive, the Congress has once again put Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in the dock.

Accusing Modi government of instigating communal riots in Gujarat, the Congress spokesperson Rashid Alvi said that the court will do its job but it is clear that Modi is surely behind the Sardarpur riots.

He said, “The judgement has established the fact that the Gujarat government was behind the riots. Those who are not satisfied with the judgement will knock the doors of next court.”

Meanwhile while counter attacking the Congress, a BJP parliamentarian, Vijay Rupani, said that the verdict refutes the allegations of the Opposition on the law and order situation in the state and leave no room to blame the ruling state government as well as the police.
