Shastri, 61, had died in Tashkent on January 11, 1966.

Shastri became the second Prime Minister of India after the death of Jawaharlal Nehru on May 27, 1964. He served as the Prime Minister for 19 months and two days between June 9, 1964 and January 11, 1966.
