New Delhi: After the execution of 26/11 terror attack convict, Ajmal Kasab, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi reignited the issue of Afzal Guru, another convict of 2001 Parliament attack, by demanding similar action in his case.

"What about Afzal Guru who attacked Parliament, our temple of democracy, in 2001? That offense predates Kasab’s heinous act by many years," - Modi wrote on microblogging site twitter.

Afzal Guru was awarded death sentence by the Supreme Court in 2004 for his role in the attack on the Parliament in December 2001. Seven security personnel were killed in the attack by the terror attack organised by Pakistan based terror outfits- Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM).

Afzal Guru's mercy petition is pending before the President.
