Ahmedabad: Depicted as Lord Krishna by the party, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi is now turning a hero for the world. According to the data released by the Time magazine’s ongoing online survey ‘The 2012 Time 100 Poll’ to decide the 100 most influential people in the world, Modi ranks first with 1,76,566 votes. Erik Martine, general manager of Reddit.com, is at second position with 1,76,000 votes.

The survey asks the readers to decide if a person listed deserves to be among the top 100. Recently, Time magazine in its March 26 issue, published an article on Modi, with the heading: ‘Modi means business", along with a strap: "But can he lead India?’

The revealed data stated that till April 5, Narendra Modi was leading ahead of the world's most powerful man Barack Obama. Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, veteran social activist Anna Hazare are behind Modi.

The First Lady of the US Michelle Obama, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, the Chief of the British tabloid The News of the World Rupert Mudroch also are in the Time list. Sachin Tendulkar, actress Vidya Balan, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar are some of the other Indians whose names also have appeared in the list.

Voting for the ongoing online survey will end on April 6 and the list for the most influential persons will be announced on April 17.

He is also widely touted as a possible future Prime Minister of India.
