Roorkee: Class VIII students of 43 schools in the district would have to appear for a test conducted under the National Achievement Survey. The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has entrusted the responsibility of the test with the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET).  A number of experts of the DIET are busy in completing the task.

The NCERT has started the procedure of survey for assessing the educational level of Class VIII students.

According to DIET Expert and Survey In-charge KP Saroha, NCERT has selected 43 schools of the district including Arya Kanya, SD Inter College and BSM Inter College.  The students will appear in tests of Mathematics, Science, Hindi and Social Science which have already started from March 1.

The tests are being conducted for two days in each school for which all the DIET experts and assistant teachers have been engaged. The format of the exam has also been prepared by the NCERT which will be provided to the students prior to the test. The question paper will be of 100 marks. After the completion of the examination, the DIET will send a detailed report to the NCERT.

Since the Class VIII students have already appeared for their annual exams and are enjoying their holidays presently, the DIET experts have to request the principals to call them for the test.
