Gopal Nageshia (23), a member of People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI) a CPI (Maoist) faction, was nabbed from his native village Mahadevjula under Bagicha police station limits yesterday, Jashpur Deputy Superintendent of Police PC Shrivastava said.

On getting a tip-off of the cadre arriving at his native place, a team of local police was mobilized towards the place.

After surrounding the village, he was arrested from his house, the DSP said.

Nageshia was active in Shankargadh region of the Balrampur district adjoining Jashpur border and was associated with the 11 cadres who were arrested in Lahsunpat area of Balrampur in March this year, he said.

Gopal was involved in different criminal incidents like attempt to murder and was carrying a reward of Rs 5,000 on his head, the DSP said.

The rebel was later produced before a local court, which has sent him to jail on judicial remand, he added.
