Jamui: Naxals have stalled road construction at Aliganj region of Jumai district. Fearing an increase in the police activity in the region, Naxalites are up in arms against the construction of the road.

As per the work plan, road stretch of 3.25 kilometre has to be constructed from Lakshmipur-Bhaluana-Kailash Dam, which will pass through dense jungles, crossing 'Martyrs place' of the Naxals.

As per the information, soon after the commencement of Rs 2.51 crore construction work, Maoists on April 15, 2011 threatened the contractor Rajeev Kumar Singh to stop the work. The contractor informed about the Naxalite call to the Chief Engineer, who later refused to work at the site.

Meanwhile, the local police has offered security at the construction site.
Superintendent of Police Ramnarayan Singh said, “Police is ready to give security during construction of road. Roads in the region are necessary for frequent policing.”
