Hazaribagh: One Reliance Power officer was killed and three others injured by Naxals in Tandwa region of Chatra district in Jharkhand on Wednesday.


Manoj Kumar Ojha, a resident of Ranchi’s Morhabadi Colony, was shot dead on the spot, while three others, including assistant vice president Hiran Gujha, injured. They were admitted to Apollo Hospital, Ranchi, where their conditions are said to be critical.

TPC, an active Naxal group of the region, is said to be behind the attack. However it has not been ascertained yet. One of the three injured, ADC IN Rai said, “They were three in numbers. All of them disappeared after the firing.”


Manoj was returning from Sidpa village after inspecting the site of the power plant. Deepak Kochgaway, head of corporate affairs of Reliance Power, said, “Company will provide all possible help and is in support with the family of the deceased officer and injured Hiran Gujha.”


After the incident Rai, Gujh and others managed to reach to Sidpa Village. Villagers helped them reach Simaria. Later, the body of Manoj was sent to Chatra for postmortem.


Yashwant Sinha, MP of Hazaribagh, condemned the incident and urged the state government to provide sufficient protection to the private company employees.
