NCP leader Praful Patel, who is the Union Minister for Heavy Industries, said, “I don't want to comment on anybody's interview, but the fact is we are in an era where we believe the judicial system is the final recourse to getting justice on any issue or to bring a finality to any controversy.”

He was replying to a question about Congress vice-resident Rahul Gandhi's interview in which he had blamed Modi for the 2002 riots.

"And if the judicial system has given a pronouncement then we ought to respect it. We will not question it further,” the Lok Sabha MP from Bhandara-Gondiya said.

“Politics is not just about the judicial system. Politics is also about perception and I think it is important for political parties to go to the people based on what we believe in," he added.

In a TV interview earlier this week, Rahul Gandhi had said, “The fact of the matter is that innocent people died in 1984 and innocent people dying is a horrible thing and should not happen. The difference between Gujarat and 1984 was that the Government of Gujarat was involved in the riots.”
