Faizabad: Veteran Congress leader ND Tiwari on Saturday put the Central government in dock saying that the UPA should construct Ram Temple at Ayodhya.

Addressing the media persons, the octogenarian leader said that the Allahabad High Court ruling over the contentious issue paved the way for construction of Ram Temple at the disputed land.

“The Ram Temple should be constructed there," Tiwari said. On being asked about who will build it, the senior Congress leader said that the Centre should construct it as the contentious land is in possession of the Central government.

In 2010, the three-judge bench - comprising Justice SU Khan, Justice Sudhir Agarwal and Justice DV Sharma - ruled in a majority judgment 2:1, that there be a three-way division of the disputed land - one-third for the Sunni Waqf Board, one-third for the Nirmohi Akhara and one-third to the party for 'Ram Lalla'.

Each of the three judges had given a summary of his own. Justice Khan had pointed to the unprecedented nature of Hindus and Muslims worshipping together for centuries. And Justice Aggarwal had observed that the inner courtyard of the building belonged to both Hindus and Muslims.
